Awards Friday

I have been honoured with some awards this month and would like to thank Basset Momma for passing on the Pawsome Blogger Award to me and Joules Prescott and Haopee for passing on the Sunshine Award. I have pawticipated in the Pawsome Blogger Award before so I will concentrate on this Sunshine Award for now. And for this one I have to answer some questions and pass on the Award to 10 more people. So here goes:

Questions and Answers:
Favourite Number: 4 because I had four puppies and they were the best pups ever :-)

Favourite non-alcoholic drink: Water - from a pond or a puddle or even my bowl - preferably filtered water if it's in my bowl because they add stuff to the tap water here and make it taste funny :-( Snow can be quite tasty too:

Facebook or Twitter: Facebook 'cos Twitter is for birds and Leigh can put lots of photos of all of us on Facebook in little albums.

My passion: a hard one this because I really have 2 which are sleeping and eating and I can't choose between them but eating is on my mind just for the moment - remembering that amazing bone I had the other week :-)

Favourite patternBoneprint because I have a hoody in that pattern which I really like.

Favourite Day of the week: Sunday because we often go out somewhere special that day.

Favourite FlowerDog Rose - because it is named after us canines Rosa Canina

And now for 10 blogs which I would like to pass this award too. It has been hard because I enjoy so many but some have already been nominated for this award by others so here are 10 you might like to check out if you haven't seen them before:
A Vintage Daydream a photographic diary of life on the South Coast of England ..and a dog called Stevie Nicks :-)

Another Coffee to Go - tales from North Wales with Annie the beautiful lurcher.

Charlene and Storm - life with an action-loving border collie cross called Storm.

Terrier Fun - visit Molly, Taffy, Monty and Winnie for Airedales having fun!

Meeting Stanley

In my last post I mentioned that there was more to tell from the day the Olympic Torch came through Monk Fryston village, well this is what happened after the Olympic peeps had all gone.

Outside one of the cottages we saw a pink doggy bed on a bench so we went over to say hello to the little dog. His owner came to talk to my peeps and she told them that his name was Stanley and sad to say  he had suffered a stroke and the day of the torch was his last day before he went over the Rainbow Bridge. He was able to sit and watch the festivities and the torch going by from his roadside bench outside their cottage - he had always loved to meet peeps and Leigh gave him a cuddle for a while and then put him back in his little bed.

He was enjoying the sunshine and the breeze blowing in his crest. Stanley is a Chinese Crested dog which can be hairless like him or hairy like this one:

Anyway the lady who owned Stanley had 6 rescue dogs - mostly Chinese Crested and she invited us all behind the gate to her backyard to see them ...and meet her hens. She has so many hens of rare breeds she said she had lost count of them!

Well as you can see her dogs were quite excited to meet me - I don't know if they thought I was a torch bearer. Judith had to put me on the ground for proper greetings:

and then we were introduced to the hens:

As you can see there were lots of different kinds there and some fine cockerels too.

We enjoyed our visit behind the big gate and on our way back home we said goodbye to Stanley.
It was such a beautiful day that day and the roses were flowering in the hedgerows. They call these  'dog roses'

So here is a dog rose for Stanley - run free across the Rainbow Bridge, Stanley.

Say Hello and Wave Goodbye

Today (even though it is Wordless Wednesday I am going to do a Pawsomely Big Blog post as I've not been posting for more than a week. Can you guess what's happening in this photo? It is me and Judith waiting for the Olympic Torch!! The torch was coming through Monk Fryston the next village to ours and we went to say hello to the torch bearers and cheer them on their way. Here are some of the pictures from the day:

The flags were flying to represent each of the nations which have hosted Olympic Games in the past

There were signs to show the games that will take place in the Olympics

.
And lots of Union Jack flags - it was like the Queen's Jubilee all over again!

There was singing

and bands making a loud noise :-(

There were strange people on little bicycles

and golden girls

and BACON BUTTIES!!!

But suddenly the police bikers were coming with their lights flashing

Let me see, let me see!

Here she comes with the torch!

Oh I think she's waving at me!
This torchbearer is Ashpal Bhogal from Leeds in Yorkshire and she is only 17 years old and is the first British Sikh/Asian hockey player to be selected in any of the English Women's Hockey international programmes - she has won lots of awards in that sport.

Well that was a lovely morning...and I will tell you more about what happened that day in another post but it wasn't only hello and goodbye to the Olympic torch...because today I have had to say goodbye to my little boy Merlin who has gone to a wonderful new home in Northumberland.

Wishing you a very happy life with your new forever family Merlin xx

A Day out at Bramham Park

This Saturday was the best I've had for ages.  Because of me having the pups and then the weather has been so bad, it seems such a long time since we had a whole day out somewhere and this was a REAL day out to a big event near where we live. The Bramham International Horse Trials were being held for peeps and horses to show off their skills. We went to the cross country event last year and it was so good Judith & Leigh decided to take me and Alfie Crybbe and my 2 pups along for the day. This year as all the other big horse trial events for the Olympics had been cancelled because of the bad weather Bramham Park was their last chance for a practice and there were entries from all over the world.

And there were thousands of peeps watching. We walked round the cross country course (Trilby and Merlin had to ride in the pet stroller because they are too young to walk far) and we stopped every so often for some snacks :-) This was my favourite stall:

There were such yummy smells coming from it! We did get to taste a bit and then we sampled some ice cream for dessert:

Crybbe enjoying some ice cream

Trilby and Merlin got a chance to take in the sights as well.

All the jumps had some kind of sculpture or theme to it. This one was rabbits!

This one celebrated the Leeds Rock Music Festival which is held at Bramham too

This was a jump made like a wooden boot!

And this was a big wooden sun :-)

But it wasn't all horses either. We met hundreds of different dogs out walking the course with their peeps and some were wearing some pretty wild outfits:

Alfie Crybbe never did tell me what the poodle whispered!

A Great Dane like Sampson - with his Husky friend

A big greyhound - you can just see me watching him in the background

And can you see the different dogs watching the jumping in this picture.

There were lots of jumps that ended up in the water too which would not have been my idea of fun! But we did have a good time and it certainly tired out Trilby and Merlin:

By the time we got home we all just wanted to sleep :-)
