Darlington Championship Dog Show

Hello bloggy friends - this is Caoimhe here today doing a post about my trip to Darlington Dog Show. As some of you may know I've been not very well after being vaccinated last year and I'm trying to cope with scary situations better with the help of some homeopathic treatment from a special vet. Yesterday my peeps took me for a day out to a big dog show to see if I would be able to manage in the crowds ..and even in the show ring. It was a sunny day so the showing was being done outside on the grass. Here I am being prepared for my go in the ring.

I had a good view of everything going on from up on the grooming table :-)
There were lots of dogs there of all shapes and sizes - not just schnauzers. Huge ones like this wolfhound:
and this borzoi:
Spotty ones - like these dalmations:
Laughing bull terriers:
Basset hounds like Fred & Gloria:
and mini me...time for the ring!
I had to stand on a table to be examined - being a small kind of dog :-)
Well there were eleven of us in the ring and in the end the judge thought I wasn't one of the best :-( so I didn't get a rosette but my peeps were so happy with how I managed in the show ring and with all the other dogs they said I was a superstar anyway :-) We went for a tea break and saw these salukis lounging in their coats:
and then it was time to get back home. I could hardly wait to tell the others about my day:
Hurry up and pack the bags in the back!
And by the end of the day I was ready for a snooze in the sun:
Catch up with you all again soon :-)

  1. Looks like you had a really fun time! I bet you needed a nap when you got home!

  2. Great job! You are so regal looking but you know how picky judges can be. I think you deserved Best in Show just for being involved. I'm sorry you got sick from shots; I wonder if your peeps have ever heard of Rescue Remedy by Bach, a natural stress relief supplement. I've used it as well as several of our dogs and it does work. Hope you continue to go to shows.
    Have a splendid day.

    1. Thank you for your tip about the Rescue Remedy. My peeps have used it before but not with me yet - maybe at my next show. I had some 'scullcap & valerian' tablets before this show :-)

  3. Brilliant, you're very very brave :) you should have most definitely won BIS for Bravery, or BIS for Cuteness, or just BIS :)

PS I can't seem to add a reply to comments box on our blog, wh do I find this?

    1. Thank you for your comments :-)
Regarding the reply to comments feature - it just appeared on my blog so I'm not sure how you add one BUT if I go into your blog on my i-phone it does have a reply button under the comments - not if I go in on the computer!! Weird - Leigh (Magic's Mum)

  4. Aw Caoimhe you look wonderful in those pics! well done for competing, I'm not sure if Stevie would be brave enough, maybe one day! xxxx

  5. Well done Caoimhe! We think you're the best anyway.

Love all those dogs. Too bad there weren't any scotties, but there was a Bull Terrier. SHE loves BTs.

XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy (who's half BT)

  6. Congratulations! It sounds like you did a wonderful job.

    Nubbin wiggles,

  7. I think those judges are NUTSO for not picking you as the winner ...... Did they not see your GAWJUSS eyebrows???!!?

  11. Good job Caoimhe! Everyone must have been so proud of you. I loved seeing all the pretty doggies, especially the bassets. When there's a show around here, we're lucky to see even one basset. You're a star in our eyes Caoihme! :)

  13. I just saw a pretty picture of a Saluki. They're so pretty. I haven't heard of the breed before so it's a surprise that I've seen and yet never knew that such breed did exist. She reminds me of Sasha in an old classic All Dogs Go To Heaven 2.

It's okay Caoimhe. I think that you're a pretty pretty girl and we admire you for your guts and courage to be in a dog show.

    Huggies and Cheese,

  14. What a fun time with all of those other dogs - I bet you enjoyed your nap after that :)

  15. So great to read your bloggy again, we have missed so much. It's good to hear to homoeopathic option works for you! Glad you got out though and saw all those other variety of doggies. I'm sure the judge was having a bad day.
