Harvest Time

Here in Yorkshire now the autumn has come all the vegetables and hay are being harvested. Behind our garden are fields of hay, sweetcorn, potatoes, turnips and carrots and there are tractors and lorries harvesting into the night. The photo is the view from our back lane.

The bales of hay may look small from a distance but they are pretty large really!

The sweet corn is tall too :-)

I didn't think I was going to get out of that field before those corn monsters got me!

Back home the tomatoes are ripening but they are not very good this year because there's been too much rain and not enough sun!

This red admiral butterfly in our garden is trying to get food before winter.

Here's hoping next summer is better!

  1. Hey Magic - we didn't know you lived in such a rural area.... We think you are lucky. Mum tried to give me a corn cob once (Frankies idea) but I didn't want anything to do with it! Sorry about your Tomatoes.... We are just growing our seedlings from seed at the moment. Mum is not planning to pack the veggie garden full this season.... She thinks it will die of thirst when we go away in the PKW for hollingdays.

  2. This is one of the things that I enjoy about blogging - these little views into other parts of the world. And I thought all that was going on in Yorkshire was pudding and terriers!! It's beautiful there!! Sending hugs.

  11. Wow, hay. I have never seen such a super duper big hay. Why are you alone in the corn field? It seems like someone has decided to enjoy the tomatoes and the hay and the corn by themselves. Naughty Magic. LOL.
