Cawood Village Fair 2012

Yesterday the sun came out for us in the afternoon and Trilby and me headed off with Judith & Leigh to Cawood village where they have had a craft fair every year for the last 30 years. Cawood is a very old village that dates back to at least the 10th century and there were historical facts about the village all round:

There were also peeps dressed in clothes from centuries ago:
There was a young man making lots of noise:

and women cooking:
 and men sitting round talking:

not much different to peeps nowadays really :-)
But we were off exploring the village and Trilby couldn't believe her eyes when she saw this...
a HUGE steam roller from 1903 parked in the road - here we are by the wheels!
There was an old barrel organ too playing music:
There were lots of tents with people selling their crafts and making things like this owl being carved from wood:
not quite finished yet :-)
And a display with one of the Olympic torches:
But by this time we were ready for an ice cream:
This looks more like it:
Just enough for two :-)
After our rest we set off again to see the scarecrows round the village.
One of the gods on Mount Olympus.
a weight lifter
and a dog tired boxer...who wasn't the only tired dog!
Time to go home - and take our tombola prize - Winnie the Pooh :-)

  1. WHat an awesome day! I love your Winnie the Pooh there. Why isn't he in the crate with ya?

  2. Great day out. What an interesting place to visit.

  4. What a fantastic looking day out, I want to come north to you guys soon and visit, all your pictures look lovely.
Sorry we haven't been around, as you know we've been in sunny France with limited internet, just about managed to update the blog but not read much of anything else, looooaads now to catch up on :) There's some fabby things here to keep me busy for a while for a start :)

    1. Oh it would be good if you did visit Yorkshire - not as sunny as France sadly but there are fun days out to be had - and maybe we could meet. I enjoyed meeting George and Tess in June :-) -Magic xx

  5. What a great place to visit! Cawood Village sounds like a place we have near here called Pioneer Village. How wonderful that you and Trilby got to share ice cream. It looks like you had a terrific day! :)

  6. Oh Trilby, you've grown so big. You're almost the same sized as your mom! Wait, where's Caoimhe? and Alfie? and Aoife? I hope you brought them treats because it sure isn't fair that others got to eat ice cream.
