Cawood Village Fair 2012

Yesterday the sun came out for us in the afternoon and Trilby and me headed off with Judith & Leigh to Cawood village where they have had a craft fair every year for the last 30 years. Cawood is a very old village that dates back to at least the 10th century and there were historical facts about the village all round:

There were also peeps dressed in clothes from centuries ago:

There was a young man making lots of noise:

and women cooking:

 and men sitting round talking:

not much different to peeps nowadays really :-)

But we were off exploring the village and Trilby couldn't believe her eyes when she saw this...

a HUGE steam roller from 1903 parked in the road - here we are by the wheels!

There was an old barrel organ too playing music:

There were lots of tents with people selling their crafts and making things like this owl being carved from wood:

not quite finished yet :-)

And a display with one of the Olympic torches:

But by this time we were ready for an ice cream:

This looks more like it:

Just enough for two :-)

After our rest we set off again to see the scarecrows round the village.

One of the gods on Mount Olympus.

a weight lifter

and a dog tired boxer...who wasn't the only tired dog!

Time to go home - and take our tombola prize - Winnie the Pooh :-)

  6. Oh Trilby, you've grown so big. You're almost the same sized as your mom! Wait, where's Caoimhe? and Alfie? and Aoife? I hope you brought them treats because it sure isn't fair that others got to eat ice cream.
