Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

Hallo Bloggy Friends - my name is Trilby and my Mum Magic has said I can share her blog today to tell you about my visit on Saturday to Abbey Lea Care Home Garden Party for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. I went with my brother Merlin and we had a very exciting time.

There were lots of people there and a lady was singing songs from the 1940s and trying to get everyone to join in...but we didn't know the words :-)

Probably the most exciting part was at the back of the garden where peeps were standing waiting near a man cooking sausages and burgers. There were such lovely smells and we waited very patiently for our turn and hoped a sausage was on the way.

This is me and Merlin getting a little impatient at waiting .... sausages were being eaten but not by us :-( but we did get a little bit after a while. Then it was getting cold so we went indoors and Judith & Leigh tried to guess the weight of a special Jubilee cake...and Leigh won!!

It weighed 5 lbs which is more than me (!) and we were able to bring it home for our Jubilee Party on Sunday. But my Mum has said that I've done enough blogging for now and it's time for me to sleep while she tells you all about the big party we had yesterday....hope to blog again soon - goodnight.

Hey friends - Magic back - to tell you about our little party here to celebrate the Queen's 60 years on the throne. There are lots of special celebrations throughout the UK and the Commonwealth and lots of street parties and there are flags and bunting everywhere round the village. Yesterday there was a huge river pageant on the Thames in London and the Queen and other Royal peeps were there to see a thousand boats going along the river. The barges were painted beautiful colours  and there were boats with peeps playing music and dressed in costumes. We all wished we could have been in London to see but we watched it on our TV and Judith made us some special bandanas to wear and Leigh prepared some goodies and we had a wonderful picnic in the conservatory because it poured with rain :-( Here are some more pictures of our feast:

And of course Trilby fell asleep after all that excitement.... on top of Aoife!

National Pet Microchipping Month

Here in the UK June is National Microchipping Month for pets. If any of you bloggy pets out there haven't heard about microchipping it's a way our peeps can help to keep us safe by making sure if we are ever lost... or even stolen :-( .. the little microchip in our shoulder can tell who we really belong to. We know about lost dogs and cats that have been reunited with their owners even miles away from where they are found because the microchip scanner showed up their number and the owners were traced.

It just takes a few seconds to put the chip in - a quick jab (ouch) and then it's all done. I would like to tell you that it isn't painful...but maybe that wouldn't be quite true :-( On the plus side it is very quick and you get lots of treats and cuddles for being brave. And of course it's a once in a lifetime jab and then your peeps will feel happy knowing you can be traced back to them if you are ever lost.
I was microchipped when I came to live with Judith & Leigh and all my pups have been microchipped so that when they go to their new owners they can be linked to their name and address too. We wanted to make sure they were registered to the right address in case the new owners were so excited about having their pup they forgot to change the details. Sadly some peeps do forget these sort of things and don't let the microchip company know when they move house or change their phone numbers. So if you are microchipped try and get your peeps to remember to keep their details up to date :-)

If any of you saw my blog review a few weeks ago about the smart phone app mydogUK they will know it has a lost pet service which is very helpful for pets who are microchipped and go astray. And this month only there is a special offer available to let peeps who are registered with Petlog upgrade to Petlog Premium online for only £7.50! I hope this post has not been too serious for you - but we get very upset when we hear about pets going missing and their owners never finding them again. At least with this microchip there is more chance the pets can be reunited with their owners quickly. And just as a taster for the weekend - here in the UK we are celebrating the Queen's Diamond Jubilee with parties galore for dogs and peeps so my next blog should have some fun pictures and I can tell you about what we got up to in our celebrations. A Busy Weekend

What a busy weekend! Judith had taken Caoimhe and Aoife up to Scottish Kennel Club Championship show in Edinburgh and so I stayed here to look after Trilby and Merlin. They are always getting up to mischief and Leigh just can't watch them all the time. They look quite sweet here but they can be wicked!

Anyway while the others were away some peeps came to meet me and Merlin. They live up in Northumberland and they would like my little Merlin to go and live with them when he's had all his vaccinations and things. They stayed and talked to Leigh and held Merlin and they all seemed to get on very well. It is hard because I love my little pups but I know they will have such fun with their new peeps and they probably don't want to be living with their Mum for the rest of their lives.

Of course my little Trilby will stay and she is already sweet talking Leigh into believing she is the cutest schnauzer there ever was looking at her with those cute expressions. You can see Merlin is not impressed:

They were pleased to see Caoimhe and Aoife back yesterday though and we had a bit of schnauzer bonding in the pink bed:

And if you were wondering how my sisters did at the show it's probably best not to ask :-( Aoife decided she did not trust the judge and gave her an evil sideways glance when she tried to check her out so the judge didn't give her anything. Caoimhe did her best but it wasn't her day. She got Reserve which is 4th and here she is with her rosette and card:

Well I'll try and get Leigh to put up my posts more often. The pups are taking up a lot of time just now so she can't get to use the computer so much :-(

Trilby & Merlin

I thought I would start today's post with a fun photo as it has been a little bit sad this weekend for me. Two of my pups have gone to their new homes - which is good really as they will have such a lovely life with their new families but I do miss them. As you can see from this photo the two who are left are not missing them as much as me! This is Trilby and Merlin having a good game of bitey face in the garden.

Trilby is my little girl (her kennel name is Darksprite Rosa Bud) and she was chosen to stay in our family by Judith & Leigh. Here she is smelling the rosemary. Her name is after the title character in a novel by George DuMaurier but everyone keeps saying she is named after a hat!

This is Merlin (Darksprite Solomon Daisy) he is one of my boys and the people who were going to take him decided not to so for the moment he is staying here too. If we can find a good home for him when he has finished his vaccinations he will go too ..and if not he will stay and maybe go showing with his sister :-) His pet name is Merlin because he is a child of Magic and so he is named after the wizard in the King Arthur tales. All the pups have kennel names from characters in novels by Charles Dickens as 2012 is the 200th anniversary of his birth. I have some very literary puppies BOL!
