Yesterday was Hallowe’en and Judith had been busy carving pumpkins and making bandanas for all the dogs. We had 4 holiday guests with us - Mabel who isTrilby’s younger sister, Kaspar who is Trilby’s son, Flynn who is Astrid’s brother and Daphne who is Phoebe’s daughter and sister to Leonardo and Theodora. Here are some photos of the family in their fun bandanas:

Fun at the dog field
The dogs enjoyed a great time at the dog field a few days ago with Daphne joining in the fun. They all had their warm jumpers and made a colourful sight on a chilly October day.

Once upon a Nightmare
On Wednesday we took Aoife, Fíadh, Astrid and Daphne to Lotherton Hall gardens for a walk through the woodland. We visit often as it is a great place for the dogs to explore but this time it was more than a little scary!

Daphne has come to stay for a holiday
The weather has been very changeable here this past week. We have had torrential rain, gale force winds and sunshine and sometimes all in one day! The older dogs just find a warm bed to snooze away the hours when it is too cold and wet but the young ones will usually risk a runabout in the garden between showers.

Autumn jumpers and a treat hunt
Suddenly the weather has become much colder here and the dogs are feeling the chill, especially the seniors. No-one wanted to go out for a walk so we set up a treat hunt in the garden and (most of) the dogs wore their warm jumpers and really enjoyed themselves. Vita decided she would prefer to go without her jumper and Archie threw off his scarf to stop it getting in the way but the others were happy to stay warm!
Aoife as the oldest had a head start on the others although they still overtook her in their excitement. She doesn’t see as well as she used to and is a little frail now so she prefers to be given treats rather than hunt for them.
The challenge toys are good for the younger dogs but we put treats in empty egg boxes and on the old tree stumps too for those who are not so keen on the puzzles.
