Autumn jumpers and a treat hunt

Suddenly the weather has become much colder here and the dogs are feeling the chill, especially the seniors. No-one wanted to go out for a walk so we set up a treat hunt in the garden and (most of) the dogs wore their warm jumpers and really enjoyed themselves. Vita decided she would prefer to go without her jumper and Archie threw off his scarf to stop it getting in the way but the others were happy to stay warm!

Aoife as the oldest had a head start on the others although they still overtook her in their excitement. She doesn’t see as well as she used to and is a little frail now so she prefers to be given treats rather than hunt for them.

The challenge toys are good for the younger dogs but we put treats in empty egg boxes and on the old tree stumps too for those who are not so keen on the puzzles.

Memories of Magic (2010-2024)

Sad to announce that dear Magic crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 30 September 2024.
She was gentle and loving and is greatly missed by all of us here.
Magic had 8 pups over two litters including our Trilby who is 12 years old and 11 grand-pups including our Pip who is 10 and Archie who is 9 years old.

Looking back at the posts here over the past years and remembering the wonderful times we had with Magic and the friends made around the world through this blog, I thought I would revive it in Magic’s memory with new posts of our Darksprite dogs and their life with us here in Yorkshire.

Magic will never be forgotten and lives in our hearts always.

Hello again - and a farewell to blogging

Hello bloggy friends - I am back once more. Leigh's broken wrist took a long time healing and many things have happened here since my last post. One piece of exciting news - my affenpinscher sister Saoirse gave birth to two beautiful puppies at the end of June, called Danny and Moth….. So this will be my very last post ( number 333)

Anyway, back to my quick catch up of events over the past three months here. These are a couple of photos of the newcomers:

Soon after they were born :-)

And when they were a bit older :-)

We have also had visitors here. My daughter Mabel and my grandson Kaspar came to stay for a week here while their family were abroad and then my great grandson Oliver came for a few days with his "brother" Keith. We were quite a house full but it was great fun BOL

A couple of pics of us all in the garden!

After the visitors had gone back to their families, my peeps organised a little get together at Ferry Meadows Country Park where me and Trilby ( and Crybbe) met up with my son Creggan, my grandson Finley and my granddaughter Pixie and their families for a walk and picnic and treats for us dogs :-)

                                                                   A group photo :-)

                                                                My grandson Finley :-)

                                                             My granddaughter Pixie :-)

My son Creggan on the right with his "brother" Rodders :-)

And me (on the left) with Trilby and Crybbe!

So bloggy friends -thank you so much for following my adventures and I am looking forward to a fun filled time ahead here as our canine family grows with new young ones…. woofs and licks from Magic xx

Bramham Horse Trials

This is a photo of me (L) with Pip and Trilby at Bramham Horse Trials last weekend. It was a good day to start with and we had a fun time following the cross country course, meeting up with my son Smudge and my granddaughter Scout and their peeps....and then disaster....Leigh had been taking photos when she fell on the muddy slope and broke her wrist! Paramedics came and lots of other kind peeps helped her but she had to go to hospital and now she has her arm all bandaged and cannot use her right hand at all. Anyway before disaster struck she did get lots of photos so here are some pictures from the event :-)

And some photos of Smudge and Scout too :-)

There were lots of stalls selling yummy treats as well :-)

So I may not be blogging for a bit until Leigh can use her right hand a bit better but I will check in to read bloggy friend posts when I can :-)

A Walk in the Gardens at Castle Howard

This is Castle Howard which is a huge stately home in Yorkshire with woods and gardens and lots of lovely places to explore for peeps and their dogs. We canines are not allowed in the house but pretty much everywhere else which makes it a good place for a visit at any time of year.

Pip came along with me and here we are in front of the beautiful azaleas with Judith.

It was a very hot day and we were wondering whether to jump into the fish pond BOL

Maybe not - there were some pretty big fish in there!

Here are some more photos from the grounds where we walked.

                                                                             Pip

                                                                       And me!

By the time we got back to the car it was very hot! Luckily we had our cooling coats to put on which keep us lovely and cool when it gets too hot. Here is a photo of Pip - you can just see her cooling jacket - lovely and blue :-)
